Tina Knowles, the renowned matriarch and fashion designer, has reportedly initiated divorce proceedings against her estranged husband, veteran actor and director Richard Lawson. According to court documents obtained by People, Tina filed for divorce on July 26, listing the date of separation as July 25. The cause of the split is cited as irreconcilable differences. In her filing, Tina requests that the court terminate its ability to award spousal support to either party and also asks for her name to be changed back to Celestine Knowles. The reason behind the name change request remains unclear.

Tina and Richard were married for eight years, having tied the knot in 2015 with a lavish yacht wedding in Newport Beach, California. The ceremony was attended by close family and friends, marking the culmination of a two-year courtship that began in 2013. This is the second divorce for Tina and Richard. Tina previously split from her husband of three decades, Mathew Knowles, in 2009. The former couple, who are the parents of superstar musicians Beyoncé and Solange, finalized their divorce in 2011.

Richard was previously married to actress Denise Gordy from 1978 to 1989. They share a daughter named Bianca Lawson and a son named Ricky Lawson.

Despite their impending divorce, Tina and Richard appeared cozy together at the Vanity Fair Oscar's after party in March. Richard expressed his admiration for Tina in a heartfelt message, praising her beauty and character. He described her as an incredible mother and admired her care and support for women worldwide. Richard confessed that it took 32 years for his attraction to Tina to come full circle, emphasizing that it was worth the wait.

Rumors of the couple's separation had circulated earlier this month, with reports suggesting that they were leading separate lives. Richard's absence from Gloria Carter's wedding, the mother of JAY-Z, and Tina's absence from Richard's movie screening during the Essence Festival in New Orleans fueled these rumors.
