This criticism comes as Chelsea confirmed the surprising £115m signing of Caicedo, despite Liverpool reportedly agreeing on a £111m deal for the player just a week ago. Additionally, Liverpool had also agreed on a £60m deal for Lavia, but the player's preference seems to be a move to Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool's lack of transfer activity has left them with a shortage of midfielders for the second consecutive season. The departures of key players such as Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Naby Keita, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Arthur Melo have created a void in their midfield. Despite bringing in Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister, Liverpool's squad depth in the midfield department appears to be insufficient.
