Harris County Authorities Issue Blue Alert Following Deputy Shooting

Authorities in Harris County are searching for a man who shot a sheriff's deputy during a traffic stop.

Authorities in Harris County, Texas, are seeking assistance from the public in locating a man who allegedly shot a sheriff's deputy during a traffic stop. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, prompting the issuance of a Blue Alert, which is typically used when a police officer is injured or killed.

The suspect in question is identified as 34-year-old Terran Green. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez addressed the media during a news conference on Wednesday night, providing details of the incident. The 29-year-old deputy was shot while conducting the traffic stop.

Green was last seen driving a blue 2016 Ford Escape with the Texas license plate SVJ6590. He was described as wearing a gray shirt and black shorts at the time of the incident. The authorities are urging anyone with information to immediately contact 911.

During the news conference, Sheriff Gonzalez revealed that the shooting took place around 7:39 p.m. on Homestead Road. Within a matter of minutes, dispatchers were alerted to the deputy being injured, and witnesses began reporting the incident. Paramedics arrived promptly and transported the deputy to the hospital.

As of 10 p.m., the deputy was undergoing surgery, and the sheriff's office requested prayers for his recovery. The deputy, who remains unnamed, has been serving in the officer role for approximately a year and three months.

Sheriff Gonzalez expressed determination in apprehending the suspect, stating that a large-scale manhunt was underway. He emphasized that everyone in the area, including Green and any potential accomplices, should be considered dangerous.

"We will not tolerate this act of violence against our law enforcement officers," Sheriff Gonzalez declared. "We are fully committed to bringing the person or persons responsible for injuring our deputy to justice."

The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any information that may assist in locating Terran Green. The authorities are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of both their officers and the general public.
