The game saw the Huskers heavily rotate players on both offense and defense, with 22 different players seeing snaps on defense and 16 players on offense. While this rotation allowed for opportunities for young players, it also meant that some veterans, like senior wide receiver Billy Kemp, didn't have as much of an impact. Kemp, who had high expectations for his first game as a Husker, was shadowed by Minnesota defensive back Darius Green and was only targeted twice, resulting in an interception and an incomplete pass. Other wide receivers, like Alex Bullock and Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda, saw more snaps and had more success in the game. The running back rotation consisted of Rahmir Johnson, Gabe Ervin, and Anthony Grant, while the offensive line remained mostly intact, with Henry Lutovsky filling in for Nouredin Nouili at right guard for a few snaps.
