Aerosmith Postpones Shows Due to Steven Tyler's Latest Ailment

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has injured his vocal cords, leading to the rescheduling of six shows on their farewell tour.

In unfortunate news for Aerosmith fans, lead singer Steven Tyler revealed on Monday that he has recently suffered an injury to his vocal cords. As a result, the legendary rock band has been forced to reschedule six upcoming shows over the next month. Tyler expressed his disappointment, stating, "I'm heartbroken to say I have received strict doctor's orders not to sing for the next thirty days." The injury occurred during a performance on Saturday, causing vocal cord damage and subsequent bleeding.

The affected concerts are part of the Peace Out tour and were originally scheduled between September 12 and September 27. The September 12 show in Toronto has been postponed to next year, along with concerts in Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Raleigh, and Washington, D.C. This extension of the tour will now span an additional month. However, the band assures fans that previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled dates, and refunds will be available for those unable to attend.

The Peace Out tour commenced on September 2 with a three-hour set in Philadelphia, marking the beginning of Aerosmith's farewell tour. Since then, they have only performed two other shows, including the one where Tyler sustained his vocal cord injury. This particular show took place at the UBS Arena on Long Island, New York, and was filled with surprises for the audience. The band performed the Joe Perry-sung tune "Bright Light Fright" for the first time since 1994 and debuted the Rufus Thomas cover "Walking The Dog" from their 1973 self-titled album. In addition, they celebrated guitarist Perry's 73rd birthday by singing "Happy Birthday" and presenting him with a cake.

The Grammy Award-winning band is currently touring North America alongside the Black Crowes and was originally set to conclude their 40-date trek on January 26 in Montreal. However, due to the postponements caused by Tyler's illness, the tour will now conclude with a show in Cleveland on February 29.

Fortunately, some stops on the tour, including a New Year's Eve show in the band's hometown of Boston, have not been affected by Tyler's injury. It is worth noting that last December, Aerosmith had to abruptly end their "Deuces Are Wild" residency in Las Vegas due to Tyler's undisclosed illness, which resulted in multiple cancellations.

In the midst of these tour complications, Tyler is also dealing with a legal dispute. He is currently embroiled in a legal battle with a woman who alleges that he sexually assaulted her as a teenager in the 1970s. Tyler has vehemently denied these claims and filed a motion in May to have a portion of the lawsuit dismissed.
