49ers Deebo Samuel vs. Cardinals: Expected to Play, per Report

49ers' Deebo Samuel listed as questionable but expected to play against Cardinals, Jauan Jennings and Elijah Mitchell unlikely to play.

In today's game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Arizona Cardinals, there is some uncertainty surrounding the availability of wide receiver Deebo Samuel. Officially listed as questionable, Samuel is expected to play according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. However, wide receiver Jauan Jennings and running back Elijah Mitchell are not expected to play due to shin and knee injuries, respectively.

Throughout the week, Samuel has been dealing with rib and knee injuries. While the rib issue has improved, the knee injury has kept him out of practices until Friday when he was listed as a limited participant. It is believed that his participation was minimal due to the soreness in his knee. Samuel explained that the knee injury occurred during a screen play in the first quarter, where he landed on it and felt the soreness increase over time.

Jennings, on the other hand, has been listed as doubtful for the game due to a shin injury. Linebackers Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles and Dre Greenlaw, along with Mitchell, have been listed as questionable due to ankle and knee injuries, respectively.

To bolster their roster, the 49ers have elevated two players, wide receiver Willie Snead and cornerback Kendall Sheffield, from the practice squad for the game against the Cardinals. Interestingly, the team did not elevate a second receiver, indicating that Samuel may be on track to play.

Selected as a second-round pick in 2019, Samuel has been a valuable asset for the 49ers. Standing at 6-0 and weighing 215 pounds, he has recorded 17 receptions for 247 yards and a touchdown this season. Additionally, he has contributed 48 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown on eight carries.

Despite the injuries and uncertainties, the 49ers are still considered a 14-point favorite over the Cardinals.
