Five Globes for Oppenheimer; Succession gets four; Gladstone makes history

'Oppenheimer' dominates 81st Golden Globe Awards with 5 wins, 'Poor Things' and 'Succession' also take home multiple prizes.

The 81st Golden Globe Awards were dominated by the film 'Oppenheimer', which took home five awards, including best motion picture drama. 'Poor Things', a feminist reimagining of the Frankenstein tale, was also a big winner, being named best motion picture, musical or comedy. On the television front, 'Succession' and 'The Bear' were the big winners, with 'Succession' winning four prizes, including best drama series, and 'The Bear' earning three prizes, including best comedy series.

'Beef', a dramedy about the aftermath of a road rage incident, won three Globes, including best limited series, with acting prizes going to Ali Wong and Steven Yeun. 'Oppenheimer' director Christopher Nolan won best director, and Cillian Murphy, who played the brooding scientist at the center of the film, was named best actor in a drama.

Lily Gladstone received best female actor in a drama for her role in 'Killers of the Flower Moon', and Emma Stone was honored as best female actor in a comedy for her role in 'Poor Things'. Paul Giamatti was named best actor in a comedy for his role in 'The Holdovers', and dedicated his award to teachers, saying "We've got to respect them. They do a good thing. It's a tough job." This year's Golden Globe Awards were a celebration of outstanding performances and storytelling across film and television.
