Novak Djokovic: Carlos Alcaraz on the Challenge of Beating the Tennis Champion in Grand Slam Tournaments

Alcaraz says beating Djokovic at Grand Slams is tough; loses to Zverev in Australian Open semifinals. Zverev to face Medvedev next.

At the Australian Open, Carlos Alcaraz faced Alexander Zverev in the semifinals, but his run came to an end with a loss. Zverev is now set to face Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals, while Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner will be contesting the other.

At the post-match press conference, Alcaraz was asked if anyone was capable of beating Djokovic in the Grand Slams, considering he was the only player who defeated the Serb at a Major last year. Alcaraz stated that players who make a deep run at Majors are all capable of doing it, but admitted that beating Djokovic at a Slam is even more difficult than doing it at other tournaments.

Alcaraz expressed his belief that the players in the semifinals have the level to beat Djokovic, despite acknowledging the challenge of defeating him in a Grand Slam. He also praised Jannik Sinner's performance in the tournament, highlighting his potential to beat Djokovic.

In the semifinal match against Zverev, Alcaraz made a comeback after losing the first two sets, taking the match into a fourth set. However, he ultimately lost the match in three hours and six minutes, expressing his disappointment at not being able to grasp opportunities in the fourth set to level the tie.

Alcaraz acknowledged the need for improvement and expressed his determination to continue working on his game for the future. Despite the loss, he remained optimistic about his growth as a player.
