Rapper YFN Lucci pleads guilty gang charge deal prosecutors

Rapper YFN Lucci pleads guilty to gang-related charge after 3 years, eligible for parole in 4 months. Prosecutors agree to release.

Rapper YFN Lucci has pleaded guilty to a gang-related charge in Atlanta, nearly three years after being indicted on murder, gang, and racketeering charges. The rapper, also known as Rayshawn Bennett, was one of twelve people charged in an indictment targeting alleged members of the Bloods gang in April 2021. He was charged with murder in January of that year after being accused of being the driver in a gang-related drive-by shooting that resulted in a man's death.

As part of the plea deal, prosecutors dropped 12 of the 13 counts against Bennett, and he pleaded guilty to a single count of violating the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. His defense attorneys, Drew Findling, Gabe Banks, and Marissa Goldberg, stated that after three years of pretrial litigation and incarceration, the prosecution finally dismissed the murder and RICO charges against Bennett. They also emphasized that Bennett will not cooperate in any other case.

The plea deal will make the rapper eligible for parole in as soon as four months, and prosecutors have agreed that he should be released early on parole. This will allow him to reunite with his children, family, and continue his career. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis' office did not immediately comment on the plea deal.

One of Bennett's most well-known songs is the 2016 hit "Key to the Streets," featuring the Atlanta rap group Migos.
