Titans consider signing Zay Jones after Jaguars release

Tennessee Titans eye Zay Jones as wide receiver depth option after Tulane's Jha'Quan Jackson drafted. Former Jaguar offers experience and versatility.

The Tennessee Titans are still in need of more depth at the wide receiver position, even after selecting Jha'Quan Jackson from Tulane in the 2024 NFL draft. A new option has emerged in the form of veteran wide receiver Zay Jones, who was recently released by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Despite a challenging year marred by injuries that limited him to just nine games and 321 yards with two touchdowns, Jones had an impressive season the year prior, tallying a career-high 823 yards and five touchdowns. In a standout performance against the Titans, he caught eight passes for 77 yards and a touchdown in Week 14.

At 29 years old, Jones brings versatility as both an inside and outside receiver, capable of making plays at all levels of the field. His addition would provide valuable competition in a wide receivers room that has uncertainties beyond DeAndre Hopkins and Calvin Ridley.

Furthermore, Jones has a connection to Titans offensive coordinator Nick Holz, who served as his passing-game coordinator in Jacksonville last season. Additionally, he was teammates with Ridley in 2023, potentially paving the way for Ridley to advocate for Jones to join the Titans if they show interest.

In other Titans news, former defensive lineman Teair Tart is set to sign with the Miami Dolphins. The team's list of top-20 cap hits has been updated following offseason moves, with the signing of L'Jarius Sneed impacting the salary cap space. The recent signing of Calvin Ridley has drawn criticism from an unnamed executive, who labeled it as "bad business." Details of Sneed's contract breakdown have also been revealed, shedding light on the financial implications for the Titans.
