Mike Tyson Jake Paul Press Conference Apollo

Iron Mike Tyson returns to the ring against Jake Paul on Netflix, with a lighthearted press conference in Harlem to promote.

Iron Mike Tyson, the legendary boxing icon, is making a highly anticipated return to the ring, and this time it's happening on Netflix, so no pay-per-view required. The stage is set for Tyson to face off against the YouTuber turned boxer, Jake Paul, in a showdown scheduled for July. The excitement kicked off with a press conference held on Monday, May 13 in Harlem, where the two fighters engaged in a lighthearted exchange to promote the upcoming fight.

Tyson, with an impressive record of 50-6 and 44 knockouts, and Paul, boasting a record of 9-1 with 6 knockouts, came face to face at The Apollo Theater in Harlem. Hosted by combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani, the press conference saw the two friends playfully trading jabs, but Tyson made it clear that once they step into the ring, the camaraderie will be left behind. "Once he's in that ring, he has to fight like his life depends on it, because it will be," remarked Iron Mike, who humorously admitted to feeling sore from training.

Despite Tyson's age pushing 60, Paul is exuding confidence and determination. "I'm going to show the world that I can outbox Mike Tyson, prove everyone wrong, and show that I will be the one doing the killing," stated Paul.

The scheduled fight between Paul and Tyson will consist of eight, two-minute rounds for their professional bout, which will be broadcast live on Netflix on Saturday, July 20, 2024, from the iconic AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Adding to the excitement of the event is the top-tier "undercard" match featuring super lightweight world champion Katie Taylor, with a record of 23-1 and 6 knockouts, facing off against Amanda "The Real Deal" Serrano, the unified featherweight world champion with a record of 46-2-1 and 30 knockouts. This rematch will see Taylor defending her undisputed title in a scheduled 10, two-minute rounds, promising an electrifying night of boxing action for fans worldwide.
