Aldi, Hy-Vee and other chains recall cream cheese spreads with potential salmonella

Aldi, Hy-Vee, and more recall cream cheese spreads due to potential salmonella contamination from supplier in Wisconsin. Return for refund.

Several supermarket chains, including Aldi and Hy-Vee, have issued recalls for their store-brand cream cheese spreads due to potential salmonella contamination. The affected cream cheese spreads are sourced from Schreiber Foods in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

It was revealed that an ingredient used in several cream cheese spread formulas may contain salmonella, prompting the recalls. The ripple effect of a salmonella issue with an ingredient supplier can impact multiple levels of customers, causing widespread concern.

As of now, neither Schreiber nor Topco, the distributor, have addressed the recall on their websites or social media platforms. The number of retail store customers affected remains unclear.

Salmonella is a serious concern, affecting millions of people in the United States each year. Symptoms include stomachaches, diarrhea, and fever, with a significant portion of cases requiring hospitalization.

The recalled cream cheese spreads from various supermarket chains include Aldi's Happy Farms Whipped Cream Cheese Spread and Strawberry Cream Cheese Spread, Hy-Vee's Cream Cheese Spread and Whipped Cream Cheese Spread, Schnucks' Whipped Cream Spread, Strawberry Spread, and Cream Cheese Spread, and Hornbachers' Garden Vegetable Cream Cheese Spread.

If you have purchased any of the recalled cream cheeses, it is advised to return them to the store for a full refund. Alternatively, dispose of them securely to prevent pets from accessing them.

For further inquiries regarding the recalls, contact Schreiber at 800-644-5473 or [email protected]. Stay informed and prioritize food safety to avoid potential health risks associated with salmonella contamination.
