Angel Reese WNBA debut Chicago Sky defeat

Angel Reese debuts in WNBA with 12 points in Chicago Sky's loss to Dallas Wings. Caitlin Clark also had impressive debut.

Angel Reese made her highly anticipated WNBA debut for the Chicago Sky on Wednesday night, but unfortunately, it ended in defeat as the team fell to the Dallas Wings 87-79. Despite the loss, Reese put up an impressive 12 points in her first professional women's basketball game.

As the No. 7 overall draft pick this year, Reese struggled in the first half, missing all three of her field goal attempts. However, she came alive in the second half, scoring 11 points and registering the first points of her career with a pair of free throws late in the second quarter.

Although she narrowly missed out on a double-double with eight rebounds, Reese's performance was a promising start to her WNBA career. Her debut came just a day after Caitlin Clark's impressive 20-point performance for the Indiana Fever.

In contrast to Clark's debut, the Sky initially led by as many as 10 points in the first half, but a strong performance in the paint by Dallas allowed them to rally back for the win. Both teams were missing key post players, with Satou Sabally sidelined for the Wings due to a shoulder injury and Kamilla Cardoso out for the Sky with a preseason shoulder injury.

Arike Ogunbowale led the Wings with 25 points, while Teaira McCowan and Natasha Howard both notched double-doubles. Marina Mabrey scored 19 points to lead the Sky, with five players reaching double figures.

The Wings and the Sky will face off again on Saturday night, giving Reese another opportunity to showcase her talent and make an impact in the WNBA.
