Sturgeon Moon: August Supermoon to Delight Skygazers

The UK is set to see a bigger and brighter moon on Tuesday night, known as the supermoon. The moon is at its closest point to Earth, making it appear larger and brighter than usual. The phenomenon is expected to be visible at dusk on August 1. Another supermoon will appear on August 30.

Student Exposes Scandal Leading to Resignation of Stanford President Marc Tessier-Lavigne

Stanford University President, Marc Tessier-Lavigne, has resigned following allegations of research misconduct. The allegations, first reported by a student newspaper, questioned the integrity of Tessier-Lavigne's research and his failure to address errors. While a report released by the university's board of trustees confirmed some of the allegations, it did not agree with the newspaper's claims of potential research fraud. Tessier-Lavigne, who had a successful career as a neuroscientist and fundraiser, joined Stanford in 2016 and helped raise billions of dollars for the university. Richard Saller, a Stanford classics professor, will serve as interim president.

Preview of MSG Sphere in Las Vegas unveils breathtaking exterior display for 4th of July

The MSG Sphere in Las Vegas, touted as the world's largest spherical structure, has showcased its LED lights display during a preview event on 4 July. The structure, which is 366 feet tall and 516 feet wide, features a bowl-shaped theatre with the world's highest-resolution wraparound LED screen. The exterior is fitted with 1.2 million LED lights that can display dynamic imagery on a massive scale. The venue, which cost $2.3bn to build, is set to open on 29 September with a series of U2 concerts.
