'Fact check: LeBron James contacting Draymond Green after Team USA's loss to Canada — viral rumors debunked'

LeBron James reportedly interested in playing for Team USA in 2024 Olympics, reaching out to other NBA players.

LeBron James has expressed his interest in representing Team USA in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Rumors suggest that the four-time MVP reached out to fellow NBA players such as Steph Curry, Jayson Tatum, Draymond Green, and Kevin Durant to join him in this endeavor.

In response to these reports, a troll account on "X" called The Hoop Centrol quickly shared a video of Draymond Green seemingly discussing the situation with James. The clip was taken from an old episode of the Draymond Green Show and had no connection to ESPN's Brian Windhorst's report about James forming a super team.

While it is possible that LeBron James did contact Draymond Green, the video shared by The Hoop Centrol was not from that particular occasion.

The recent loss of Team USA in the FIBA World Cup has left the country without a medal for two consecutive tournaments. They finished seventh in 2019 and fourth this year, losing the battle for third place to Canada, led by Dillon Brooks of the Houston Rockets.

Despite not being known for his offense, Brooks had an exceptional performance, scoring 39 points to help Shai Gilgeous-Alexander lead the Canadian team to victory. Additionally, Brooks was recognized as the Best Defensive Player of the tournament, adding to his controversial reputation in the NBA.

LeBron James and Dillon Brooks had a heated series during last season's playoffs. Witnessing Brooks celebrate at the expense of Team USA might have fueled James' desire to participate in the Olympics.

The Paris Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. A lot can happen between the start of the regular NBA season and the NBA Finals in June of next year. The health of players will likely be a significant factor in their decision to compete in the 2024 Olympics.

LeBron James will be entering his 21st season next year and has faced injury challenges over the past five years. In the previous season, he narrowly avoided a season-ending injury.

The LA Lakers are also expected to have a deep playoff run, which could potentially impact James' physical condition after a grueling season and intense postseason battles.

While Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Kevin Durant are not as old as LeBron James, they too have a history of injuries.

LeBron James was part of the Redeem Team that won the gold medal in the 2008 Olympics. His presence may be crucial for Team USA to reclaim their basketball glory.
