The 53-year-old was discovered lifeless in the swimming pool of his home in the Diamond Head area of Honolulu, as confirmed by the Honolulu Police Department. An unattended death investigation has been initiated, and there are no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances. He was pronounced dead at 7 a.m. local time.

Following his father's footsteps, Mitchell became a successful hairdresser and co-owner of John Paul Mitchell Systems after his father's death from pancreatic cancer in 1989, also at the age of 53. He worked alongside co-founder John Paul DeJoria, leading the company to further success.

The sudden passing of Angus Mitchell has deeply affected those who knew him.
