Join us in supporting independent journalism in Ukraine as officials from the United States and Belgium have confirmed plans to ship the first F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine later this year. The F-16 training coalition, established in 2023 by the U.S., Denmark, and the Netherlands, has been instrumental in bolstering Ukraine's Air Force, with Belgium being among the first countries to join.

Belgian Defense Minister Ludivine Dedonder expressed the country's commitment to speeding up deliveries in coordination with coalition partners, aiming to have the jets in Ukraine by the end of the year. This decision was confirmed by Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Kroo, highlighting the support and solidarity from the international community.

At the Ramstein-format summit on April 26, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced that more than a squadron of donated F-16s, along with trained pilots and maintainers, will be sent to Ukraine this year. In addition, the U.S. has prepared a $1 billion immediate military aid package and a $6 billion weapons package under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) to provide ongoing support to Kyiv.

The Netherlands, Denmark, and Norway have also pledged to supply Ukraine with U.S.-made fourth-generation jets, further strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities. Belgium's commitment to providing F-16 fighter jets and assistance with pilot training underscores the collective effort to support Ukraine in the face of ongoing challenges.

In late March, the Belgian government approved the 25th assistance package for Ukraine, allocating 100 million euros ($107 million) for the maintenance and support of F-16 fighter jets. This continued support reflects the unwavering commitment of the international community to stand with Ukraine and uphold its sovereignty.

Together, we can make a difference and stand in solidarity with Ukraine as they navigate these challenging times. Join us in supporting independent journalism and contributing to the collective effort to support Ukraine's defense and security.
