Sofía Vergara shared a behind-the-scenes look of the "first" cast reunion for the award-winning ABC sitcom. The 51-year-old actress was seen laughing with her on-screen family, with most of the main cast present. Julie Bowen, Sarah Hyland, Eric Stonestreet, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ariel Winter, Rico Rodriguez, Ed O'Neill, Nolan Gould, and more were featured in the get-together, with Ty Burrell being the only cast member missing. Instead, the entire cast posed for a photo together alongside a portrait of him in character as Phil Dunphy. The cast also shouted "we miss you Ty" and "love you dad" at the photo, which they propped up above a fireplace in a video shared to Vergara's Instagram account.
Vergara expressed how lucky she felt to have worked with the cast for 11 years and how much she loves and misses them all. The reunion also showed Vergara chatting with her on-screen husband O'Neill, posing with her on-screen son Rodriguez, and laughing on the floor with Ferguson. Ferguson also shared that the reunion was "nearly" perfect and that the showrunners, Chris Lloyd & Steve Levitan, were also present.
Stonestreet shared a few images from the reunion and expressed his feelings about the missing cast member. Ferguson uploaded pics of the individual TV families that made up the Dunphy-Pritchett clan, and Vergara shared her experience of celebrating with her co-star Sarah Hyland.
Overall, the reunion was a magical and heartwarming event for the Modern Family cast, who had not seen each other since filming finished two weeks before the pandemic began. It was a time to celebrate and cherish the memories of working together for 11 years.
