"Chris Christie voices Republicans' worry about Trump's ability to defeat Joe Biden"

Republicans concerned Trump can't beat Biden in 2024, says Christie.

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie expressed concerns among Republicans regarding former President Donald Trump's ability to defeat President Joe Biden in the 2024 presidential election. Christie discussed Trump's recent claims of winning the state of Nevada in both the 2016 and 2020 elections, despite the fact that both elections resulted in a Democratic victory. According to Christie, this strategy is unlikely to work in 2024. He compared Trump's approach to the lyrics of an old country song, stating that people will either believe him or their own eyes. Christie further stated that Trump's repeated rallies and actions are becoming tiresome.

Additionally, Christie pointed out another weakness of Trump's heading into the 2024 election, which is the absence of a Republican Party member who truly knows him and can effectively counter his tactics. Christie mentioned his own experience in helping prepare Trump for the 2016 and 2020 presidential debates, emphasizing that Trump is aware of what he will face and is not eager to confront it.

These comments from Christie come amid an ongoing feud between him and Trump since Trump left the White House in 2021. Christie recently announced his bid for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination and is currently competing against other Republican candidates such as Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, and Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina.

A June poll indicated that if the 2024 presidential election were held at that time, Trump would defeat Biden by approximately 6 points, with Trump receiving 45% of the vote compared to Biden's 39%. However, 15% of respondents were either unsure or did not know who they would vote for in a hypothetical election.

It is important to note that the poll was conducted between June 14 and 15, with a total of 2,090 respondents surveyed.
