Plan your Fourth of July weekend in Sioux Falls

Sioux Falls Independence Day Celebration: 5K run, parade, fireworks, and more.

Are you excited for the Sioux Falls Independence Day Celebration? If so, here's everything you need to know before you go!

Start your day off right with a 5K run in Fawick Park. The race begins at 8 a.m., but make sure to check in at 7:30 a.m. to receive your t-shirt. Even if you haven't registered, you can still run or walk along the race path. Just keep in mind that you won't get a shirt. The path follows the scenic Big Sioux River and loops back to Fawick Park.

At 10 a.m., the parade will kick off along Phillips Ave from 13th to 6th Street. Be aware that Phillips Avenue will close at 9:40 a.m., and all streets from 13th Street to 6th Street will also be closed during the parade. To ensure a smooth staging process, the blocks of First Avenue, 12th, and 13th Street will close at 8:15 a.m.

After the parade, head over to the Levitt Shell for a delicious lunch. The first 3,000 people will be served, so make sure to arrive early. Once you've satisfied your hunger, get ready to rock out to Mogen's Hero, a 50s and 60s rock band, who will take the stage at noon.

In the evening, make your way to the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds for the Sioux Falls Fireworks display. The festivities begin at 7 p.m. with food trucks and entertainment. The fireworks will light up the sky at 10 p.m. Best of all, admission is free! Don't miss the Vanguard Flyover at 8:30 p.m., followed by a presentation of colors and an American Legion flag retirement ceremony.

If you're in downtown Sioux Falls, be sure to check out these businesses celebrating Independence Day:

- CH Patisserie is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be featuring their delicious 4th of July croissant.
- The Blarney Stone Pub is opening an hour early at 10 a.m. to accommodate the parade crowds. Make sure to stop by and enjoy their Star-Spangled Burger and Freedom Pop mixed drink, featured on their summer menu.

Get ready for a day filled with fun, food, and fireworks as Sioux Falls celebrates Independence Day in style!
