Police in search for a minimum of 2 individuals implicated in Baltimore's large-scale shooting

Baltimore police lacked presence at block party before shooting incident.

In a recent press briefing, Acting Baltimore Police Commissioner Rich Worley expressed regret over the lack of police presence in the area where the annual "Brooklyn Day" block party took place. Worley acknowledged that conversations about deploying additional resources happened too late, resulting in the incident occurring before they could intervene. He emphasized the need to investigate why the issue wasn't escalated to higher commanders sooner to ensure a quicker response.

To address the concerns surrounding the shooting, the Baltimore City Council's Public Safety Committee has scheduled an oversight hearing on July 13. This hearing aims to delve into the response of the police department and other first response agencies, as well as their knowledge of the block party.

During the ongoing investigation, multiple weapons were discovered at the scene, indicating the use of at least three firearms. Investigators are actively interviewing witnesses and victims to gather more information. At this time, no suspects have been identified, and there is apprehension regarding potential retaliation.

In an effort to encourage cooperation from the community, a reward of $28,000 is being offered for any information that leads to an arrest. Mayor Brandon Scott emphasized the city's commitment to ensuring a safe Fourth of July celebration and vowed to hold those responsible accountable. He urged residents and anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward and provide any relevant information.
