Kingsley Ben-Adir transforms into Bob Marley for the 'One Love' trailer
Trailer released for Bob Marley biopic "One Love" starring Kingsley Ben-Adir.
It's that time of year again when we are treated to a slew of biopics, where famous actors embody other famous individuals in grandiose retellings of their lives. And right on cue, we have the trailer for "Bob Marley: One Love," a fictional film centered around the legendary reggae star, with Kingsley Ben-Adir taking on the role of Marley.
In the trailer, we catch a glimpse of Ben-Adir as Marley, both visually and audibly. While we hear Ben-Adir speaking as Marley, it's worth noting that the unmistakable voice of the real Bob Marley is heard singing his timeless hits like "Jamming" and "Exodus."
Ben-Adir, a British actor, is currently captivating audiences as a shapeshifting Skrull leader in Marvel's "Secret Invasion" series. However, this is not his first foray into portraying historical figures of prominence. In 2020, he portrayed Malcolm X in "One Night in Miami," a fictionalized account of a real-life meeting between Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali, Jim Brown, and Sam Cooke.
The director of "One Love" is Reinaldo Marcus Green, whose previous work includes another notable biopic, "King Richard," which delves into the life of Richard Williams, the father of tennis legends Serena and Venus Williams. Alongside Ben-Adir, the film also features Lashana Lynch as Bob Marley's wife, Rita.
The official synopsis of the film reads as follows:
"BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE" celebrates the life and music of an icon who inspired generations with his message of love and unity. Making its debut on the big screen, the film delves into Bob's remarkable journey of overcoming adversity and sheds light on the story behind his revolutionary music.
Mark your calendars, as "Bob Marley: One Love" is set to hit theaters on January 12, 2024. The press notes emphasize that the biopic was "produced in partnership with the Marley family," a crucial detail to bear in mind.
