Next Powerball drawing scheduled as no winner pushes jackpot to $650M
Powerball jackpot reaches $650 million after 34 consecutive drawings.
The Powerball jackpot continues to grow as no winning ticket has been matched for the 34th consecutive drawing. With an estimated jackpot of $650 million, it now ranks as the ninth largest in the history of the game. This surpasses the $632.6 million prize that was split between tickets in California and Wisconsin last year.
The winning numbers drawn on Saturday were 7, 23, 24, 32, 43, and the red Powerball number was 18. The Power Play multiplier for the drawing was 2X. While no one claimed the jackpot, three tickets sold in California, Colorado, and Illinois matched all five white balls, earning $1 million each.
Although Powerball officials estimated the jackpot to be $650 million after Saturday's drawing, it still has the potential to grow even larger before the next drawing on Monday. If it increases by another $30 million, it could become the eighth largest jackpot in the game's history.
The current jackpot has been steadily growing since mid-April when a ticket sold in Ohio won a jackpot worth $252.6 million. Last week, it surpassed the half-billion mark. This is the second-largest Powerball jackpot of the year, with the largest being a $754.6 million jackpot won by a woman in Washington in February. She opted for the cash option of approximately $407.2 million, making it the fifth-largest Powerball jackpot ever.
Powerball drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET. The next drawing is scheduled for July 10. If you're feeling lucky and want to try your hand at winning, keep in mind that the odds are not in your favor. While you have a 1 in 29 chance of winning any of Powerball's nine available prizes, the chances of landing the jackpot are a staggering 1 in 292.2 million. Despite popular beliefs about lucky numbers or buying more tickets, experts assert that everyone's chances of winning are equal.
Powerball is played in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Each play costs $2. So, if you're feeling lucky and want to take a shot at the massive jackpot, make sure you're prepared to try your luck.
