UFC 290: Dan Hooker sustains broken arm, Jalin Turner fight highlights, Alexander Volkanovski reacts
New Zealand UFC fighter Dan Hooker suffers suspected broken arm.
In a surprising turn of events, Dan Hooker suffered a suspected broken arm during his split decision victory over Jalin Turner at UFC 290. Despite not showing any signs of discomfort during the fight, Hooker later shared an X-ray on social media revealing the clearly broken bone. Hooker, who had previously expressed offense at being offered a fight with Tony Ferguson, silenced his critics with this win. Although he had lost four of his past six fights, those losses came against formidable opponents such as Arnold Allen, Islam Makhachev, Michael Chandler, and Dustin Poirier. Turner, on the other hand, had won five of his last six fights and was expected to pose a tough challenge for Hooker. The fight itself was action-packed, with both fighters showcasing their skills in the opening round. Turner had the better, more crisp shots early on, but Hooker recovered well and ended the round with a strong left hand. In the second round, Turner landed a stunning high kick that backed Hooker up against the cage. Despite the onslaught, Hooker showed incredible resilience and finished the round in a flurry, almost securing a submission. In the third round, Hooker dropped Turner with a big right hand, but Turner managed to get back to his feet before the fight ended. Ultimately, Hooker's performance in the latter two rounds secured him the victory and put an end to his losing streak. Hooker praised Turner's toughness and expressed gratitude for the support he received.
