Reports: Ousmane Dembele, FC Barcelona Star, Offered Massive $220 Million to Join Ronaldo at Al-Nassr
Ousmane Dembele has rejected a €200 million offer from Al-Nassr to join Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia, showing his commitment to FC Barcelona.
FC Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele has received a massive offer of €200 million ($222.5 million) to join Al-Nassr alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, according to transfer market experts Foot Mercato. Ronaldo made the switch to the Saudi Pro League team in January after his contract with Manchester United was terminated. The move, which reportedly pays him $200 million per season, allowed Ronaldo to top Forbes' list of The World's Highest-Paid Athletes. While Al-Hilal failed to secure Lionel Messi, they have successfully attracted other big stars such as Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kante to the Saudi league, thanks to the support of the Public Investment Fund. However, the league has yet to sign a young player at the peak of their career.
Al-Nassr recently signed 30-year-old Marcelo Brozovic from FC Barcelona, which was seen as a significant achievement. However, the ultimate goal for the Saudi league would be to attract a player who was on the winning side of a World Cup final. Despite offering Dembele a five-year, €40 million ($44.5 million) per season contract, Al-Nassr has been unable to convince him to join. This is a testament to Dembele's dedication to his current club and head coach Xavi Hernandez. The Saudi team is willing to trigger Dembele's release clause of €50 million ($55.6 million), but the Frenchman seems committed to staying at FC Barcelona.
Dembele, who was once criticized by fans for not signing a contract extension, has now become a fan favorite and regular starter. While FC Barcelona is currently dealing with Financial Fair Play restrictions, they are eager to secure Dembele's future at the club. It is expected that he will sign a new contract until mid-2027.
