In a highly anticipated matchup at UFC 291, Tony Ferguson's hopes of returning to the win column were dashed by Bobby Green. The fight took place at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, and Green emerged victorious with his 30th professional win against the former "The Ultimate Fighter" winner.

From the start, Green showcased his striking skills, darting in and out with precision strikes. Ferguson, looking to change the momentum, attempted a takedown but was unsuccessful as Green managed to keep the fight standing. The two fighters engaged in a back-and-forth exchange of punches and kicks in the center of the octagon. Just when it seemed like Green was gaining the upper hand, Ferguson landed a well-timed right hand that dropped his opponent.

However, the fight was momentarily paused due to an accidental eye poke by Green. The doctor assessed the situation, and after a brief interruption, the fight resumed. Green showcased his skills once again, landing sharp combinations until the end of the round.

In the second round, Green continued to outclass Ferguson with his quick strikes. Ferguson attempted another takedown, but it backfired as he found himself on the bottom, eating heavy ground and pound from Green. With a minute and a half remaining, Green decided to stand up, and the two fighters traded blows on their feet for the rest of the round.

As the third round began, Ferguson found himself on the receiving end of Green's strikes once again. Despite being bloodied, Ferguson managed to connect with a clean right hand. However, Green quickly responded with more combinations. Undeterred, Ferguson pressed forward, hoping to turn the tide of the fight.

In a desperate attempt, Ferguson looked to roll for a leg submission, but Green was prepared and regained top position. Shortly after, Green locked in an arm triangle submission, tightening his squeeze until Ferguson ceased moving.

This victory marked Green's first submission win since 2013 when he defeated Jacob Volkmann with a rear-naked choke at UFC 156. Unfortunately for Ferguson, this loss extends his losing streak to six fights, with his last win dating back to 2019. He has suffered consecutive defeats against Justin Gaethje, Charles Oliveira, Beneil Dariush, Michael Chandler, Nate Diaz, and now Green.
