Furthermore, there were four third-prize tickets sold in New Jersey for Friday's drawing, each worth $10,000. One of these tickets was purchased using the Jackpocket app, while the others were bought at different locations and matched four numbers plus the Mega Ball.

It's worth noting that the Mega Millions jackpot was last won on April 18, when a fortunate individual from East Syracuse, New York, claimed a $20 million prize. Since then, there have been 29 consecutive twice-weekly drawings without a top prize winner, building up the anticipation for this colossal jackpot.

The winning numbers from Friday's drawing were 5, 10, 28, 52, and 63, with the Mega Ball being 18.

Throughout the year, the Mega Millions jackpot has been won six times, with four of those wins occurring in January. The most recent jackpot win in New Jersey took place on July 24, 2020, when a ticket purchased in Bayonne secured a staggering $123 million prize. It's important to note that winners in New Jersey have had the option to remain anonymous since January 2020, ensuring the privacy of their identities.

Considering the odds, a $2 ticket has a 1 in 302,575,350 chance of matching all the winning numbers. However, the chances of matching five numbers without the Mega Ball and winning at least $1 million are slightly higher, with odds of 1 in 12,607,306.
