FC Dallas emerged victorious with a 2-1 win against Mazatlán FC in the Round of 32 of the Leagues Cup on Wednesday night at Toyota Stadium. Meanwhile, in Florida, Lionel Messi continued his impressive form, scoring in his third consecutive game and delivering a second consecutive multi-goal performance for Inter Miami in their 3-1 triumph over Orlando City.

As a result of this victory, Messi and Inter Miami will now make their way to Frisco to face FC Dallas on August 6th in the Round of 16 of the Leagues Cup. FC Dallas head coach Nico Estévez expressed his optimism about the tournament's impact on their MLS performance, stating, "I hope the Leagues Cup tournament helps us get back on track in MLS play." He further explained that prior to the Leagues Cup, the team faced a series of injuries which affected their style of play. However, the tournament has provided them with an opportunity to recover and regain their rhythm. Estévez added, "Our play style has evolved positively throughout the tournament.
