Friday's $1.35B Mega Millions Drawing: Did You Win? Winning Numbers and Live Results
The Mega Millions jackpot for Friday's lottery is estimated at $1.35 billion, potentially the fourth largest in U.S. history.
The Mega Millions jackpot for the upcoming lottery drawing on Friday has reached an astounding estimated amount of $1.35 billion, with a cash option of $659.6 million. This makes it potentially the fourth largest jackpot in the history of U.S. lotteries. The drawing will take place at 10:59 p.m. and will be televised on WABC-7 in New York City and Fox 29 in Philadelphia.
The last time the Mega Millions jackpot was won was on April 18, when a lucky ticket holder in East Syracuse, New York, won $20 million. Since then, there have been 30 twice-weekly drawings without a top prize winner.
Unfortunately, no one across the country managed to match all the numbers for Tuesday's $1.1 billion jackpot. However, there were seven second-prize tickets sold that matched five numbers but not the Mega Ball. In New Jersey, there were also seven third-prize tickets sold that matched four numbers plus the Mega Ball. Two of these tickets were sold with the Megaplier option, increasing their value to $40,000 each.
In addition, there were tickets worth $10,000 each sold at various locations. A second-prize ticket bought in Texas with the Megaplier is worth $4 million. There were also tickets sold in Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, and Wisconsin that are valued at $1 million each.
Interestingly, a pair of tickets purchased in California are worth $650,579 each. It's important to note that lottery prizes in California vary depending on ticket sales and the number of winners, which differs from the fixed second prizes offered in other participating states.
The winning numbers for Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing were 8, 24, 30, 45, and 61, with a Mega Ball of 12 and a Megaplier of 4x.
So far this year, the Mega Millions jackpot has been won six times, four of which occurred in January. The most recent jackpot winner from New Jersey was on July 24, 2020, when a lucky player in Bayonne won $123 million. The largest Mega Millions jackpot ever won was a staggering $1.537 billion in South Carolina on January 23, 2018. If someone manages to win the jackpot tonight, it would become the second largest Mega Millions prize ever won.
The odds of a $2 ticket matching all the winning numbers are incredibly slim, at 302,575,350 to 1. However, players have a 1 in 12,607,306 chance of matching five numbers but not the Mega Ball, which guarantees a minimum prize of $1 million.
Mega Millions drawings take place on Tuesdays and Fridays in 45 states, as well as in Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
