'Destiny Zavala Role Recast: Keith David to Replace Lance Reddick'

Sadly, earlier this year, Lance Reddick, the voice actor for Zavala, passed away. To ensure the continuity of the character, Bungie has chosen Keith David, a former actor known for his roles in films like The Thing, They Live, and Nope, to take over the role of Zavala.

David's portrayal of Zavala will begin with the release of the upcoming expansion, The Final Shape, in 2024. This expansion will mark the start of David's tenure as the voice of Zavala in Destiny 2. Bungie has confirmed that the lines recorded by Reddick will remain untouched for the upcoming release, allowing players to continue experiencing his performance.

In a blog post on Bungie's website, David expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to carry on Reddick's incredible work as Zavala. He acknowledged Reddick's portrayal of the character's sense of integrity and stated his intention to continue that legacy in the future.

This is not the first time David has collaborated with Bungie. He previously worked with the game developer on the Halo series, where he portrayed The Arbiter. Throughout his 40-year acting career, David has taken on various roles in video games, including notable appearances in franchises like Mass Effect, Saints Row, and Call of Duty.
