Katharine McPhee Cancels Asian Tour Due to Horrible Family Tragedy
Katharine McPhee cancels Asian tour due to a "horrible tragedy" in her family, leaving fans devastated and concerned.
Katharine McPhee, the talented 39-year-old singer/songwriter, and her husband David Foster, 73, have unfortunately had to cancel their Asian tour due to a devastating tragedy. The couple had been performing together on a tour in Asia when the unforeseen misfortune occurred, forcing them to cancel the remaining shows and return to the US.
Taking to Instagram, Katharine shared the heartbreaking news with her fans in Jakarta: "Dearest Jakarta fans, it's with a heavy heart I announce that I have to miss our final two shows of our Asia run. David and I have had a horrible tragedy in our family, and at least one of us needs to get back home to our loved ones. Please know how sorry I am and how much I wish to return one day and perform for you all. Love, Katharine."
Although Katharine did not provide any further details about the tragedy, their celebrity friends reached out with messages of sympathy. Nicole Scherzinger expressed her love and prayers for the family, while David's ex-wife Linda Thompson sent her love and well wishes, hoping that everything is okay.
Katharine and David have been married since 2019 and share a two-year-old son named Rennie. David also has daughters from previous relationships, including Sara, Erin, Jordan, Allison, and Amy. The couple's strong bond and blended family have been a source of support during this difficult time.
Interestingly, Katharine revealed in a previous interview that she and David had been close friends for many years before their romantic relationship began. She spoke highly of him, stating, "We're very close friends, and we've been friends for a long time. I'm really, really fond of him, and I think he's an incredible person. I've known him since I was 21 years old, you know? He produced my first single. So he's been really good to me. People can say whatever they want."
Their paths first crossed when Katharine auditioned for 'American Idol' in 2006, where David served as a guest judge. However, at the time, she was unaware of his significance in the music industry. Katharine shared a funny anecdote about the experience, saying, "I grew up listening to Céline Dion and I love Andrea Bocelli -- I knew 'The Prayer' because I'd sung it for something, and my mom made me learn the Italian. I remember calling [my mom] and I was like: 'You're never going to believe, the guest mentor this week is Andrea Bocelli, and there's this producer that I don't know but he's supposed to be really amazing. His name is David Foster.' My mom was like, 'Katharine, you know who David Foster is. You've listened to every artist that he's ever created.' And I was like, 'Ohh... okay.'"
Despite the cancellation of their Asian tour, Katharine and David's love and support for each other, as well as the outpouring of sympathy from their friends and fans, will undoubtedly help them through this difficult time. The couple remains hopeful for the future and looks forward to returning to the stage to share their music with their devoted fans.
