He also asked his mother to reach out to his friends for assistance.

In one of the messages, Paul wrote, "I need a boat to get back." Mary claimed that she attempted to contact Paul's friends but received no response, likely due to the late hour. The last message from Paul, sent around 1:38 a.m., urged his mother to persist in reaching out to his friends. Throughout the morning and afternoon, Mary continued her attempts to contact Paul, but received no response. The message exchange also included two unanswered audio calls, one at 7:18 a.m. and another at 1:55 p.m.

The shared messages also included texts allegedly sent between Mary and two individuals identified as Jaciane Rv and Indaia Cruz. Jaciane stated that they were unable to locate Paul using the provided locator and expressed confusion about why he needed help. Meanwhile, Mary pleaded with Indaia to assist Paul through a series of text messages.

Aside from reposting these messages, Karine took to her Instagram feed on September 1 to share a heartfelt tribute video to Paul. The video featured various photos and clips of her husband with their young sons, Pierre and Ethan. Accompanied by Kyle Hume's song "If I Would Have Known," the video evoked a sense of longing and loss. The lyrics to the song emphasized the regret of not cherishing moments and the pain of saying goodbye.
