Kadarius Toney Sends Giants Message After Shutout Loss to Cowboys
Kadarius Toney trolls the New York Giants on Instagram after their shutout loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Kadarius Toney, the former wide receiver for the New York Giants, has broken his social media silence and has returned to Instagram, where he has resumed his habit of trolling his former team. This comes after the Giants suffered a devastating 40-0 loss to their NFC East rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, in the first week of the 2023 NFL season. Toney took the opportunity to taunt Giants fans, posting a message that said, "Na Don't get quiet now....," along with a caption featuring the Family Guy character Stewie and the words "Giants fans last night."
Toney's Instagram rant didn't end there. He also revealed that he would be taking a break from social media, stating, "&Now I'm back off this S***...... AGAIN.....leave me df alone but stay tuned," according to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.
It seems that Toney is reveling in the Giants' misfortune, especially after Giants fans took pleasure in his poor performance during the Chiefs' opening game against the Detroit Lions. Toney, who was selected 20th overall in the 2021 NFL draft, had a nightmare outing in that game, and many consider it to be one of the worst performances by any skill player this season, as noted by Danny Heifetz of The Ringer.
Naturally, Giants fans were quick to mock Toney for his struggles. However, Toney's poor performance not only affected the Chiefs' offense, but it also directly contributed to the Lions' scoring. Toney deflected a catchable ball, which was then intercepted by Detroit safety Brian Branch and returned for a touchdown.
In response to the backlash from Giants fans, Toney temporarily closed his Twitter account and restricted comments on Instagram, as reported by Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports. However, even these actions couldn't protect Toney from criticism, as former Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes tweeted, "Prayers up for Kadarius Toney's mentions from Giants nation," during the season opener.
Toney should have anticipated the backlash, considering his history of taunting his former team. He made headlines earlier in the year when he flaunted his Super Bowl ring and openly admitted to enjoying trolling the Giants. He even claimed that his social media posts containing profanity-laden rants against Giants fans and quarterback Daniel Jones in July were the result of hacking.
While Toney seemed comfortable engaging in back-and-forth banter with his critics, his recent comments likely struck a nerve after the Giants' embarrassing loss to the Cowboys. The Cowboys' dominance extended to shutting down Toney's replacement, Darren Waller, who was acquired by the Giants in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders earlier in the offseason. Waller, known for his versatility and ability to create mismatches, was limited to just three catches for 36 yards by the Cowboys' defense.
The Cowboys' safety, Jayron Kearse, even taunted Waller with the message "TE Stopper," highlighting the Giants' struggles and the criticism they face for their poor performance in primetime. While the Cowboys may have earned the right to take jabs at the Giants, Toney would be wise to focus on delivering on the field before making any more comments.
