David Njoku injury update: Browns TE play vs. Ravens despite burn injuries, enters stadium wearing mask
Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku suffered burn injuries in a household incident but plans to play in the game.
Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku found himself on the injury report after sustaining burn injuries to his face and arm in a household incident. It was revealed that the injuries were caused by a fire pit in his backyard. Despite this setback, Njoku's agent reassured everyone that he is "OK" and expressed gratitude for the support he has received.
Although initially listed as questionable, Njoku took to social media to confirm his intention to play. Insider Josina Anderson from CBS Sports reported that he will indeed be active for the game. This injury will not hinder him from taking to the field.
On game day, Njoku arrived at Cleveland Browns Stadium wearing a beige mask and coat. Throughout the season, he has proven to be a valuable asset to the team, with 10 catches for 92 yards and strong blocking skills. In the previous season, he achieved a career-high of 58 receptions, accumulating the second-highest yardage of his career (628). Additionally, he matched his career-high in touchdowns with four.
If Njoku's performance is limited due to his injuries, tight ends Jordan Akins and Harrison Bryant will need to step up. To further bolster their depth at the position, the Browns activated tight end Zaire Mitchell-Paden from their practice squad.
Both the Browns and the Ravens enter this game with a 2-1 record, tying them with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the top spot in the AFC North. The Browns will also have their bye week in Week 5, allowing Njoku ample time to recover, regardless of his participation in Sunday's game.
