An Amber Alert has been issued for a 9-year-old girl named Charlotte Sena, who went missing from a campsite in upstate New York. The alert was issued on Sunday morning after Sena was last seen at Moreau Lake State Park on Saturday evening. New York Governor Kathy Hochul addressed the situation during a news conference, describing the day as a "picture-perfect fall day" where Sena's family and friends had gathered for a weekend of fun. However, the day took a turn for the worse when Sena disappeared, becoming every parent's worst nightmare.
Authorities from the New York State Police have expressed concern for Sena's safety due to the low overnight temperatures in the area. They believe that the fourth-grader, who hails from Greenfield, New York, has been abducted. Sena is described as being 4 feet, 6 inches tall with blond hair, green eyes, and weighing approximately 90 pounds. She was last seen wearing a Pokemon shirt, blue pants, and black Crocs.
The Amber Alert was issued 16 hours after Sena went missing, with police stating that she was taken under circumstances that indicate she is in imminent danger of serious harm or death. Sena and her family were on a two-night camping trip when she decided to go for a bicycle ride alone. Unfortunately, she never returned, and authorities have confirmed that her bicycle was later found.
In response to Sena's disappearance, a command post has been set up at the state park, and over 100 personnel have been deployed to aid in the search. Stephanie O'Neil, the public information officer for State Police Troop G, described Sena as a highly intelligent and adventurous 9-year-old but noted that her disappearance is out of character.
Governor Hochul assured the public that efforts are being made to find Sena and expressed her commitment to the search. She urged anyone with information to contact 911 and provide any details that may contribute to locating the missing girl. Hochul emphasized that Sena is not just her parents' daughter but a daughter to all, calling for love and prayers for the family during this difficult time.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to call 518-457-6811 or email [email protected]. The search for Charlotte Sena continues, and the public's assistance is crucial in bringing her home safely.
