Pop superstar Pink breaks attendance records on her world tour, featuring high-energy performances and awe-inspiring aerial stunts.
This week, 60 Minutes had the opportunity to meet Pink, the incredible vocalist known for her hit songs "So What" and "Get the Party Started." Pink has achieved record-breaking attendance on her world tour this year, captivating audiences with her powerhouse performances.
During the tour's homecoming stop in Philadelphia, 60 Minutes correspondent Cecilia Vega had the chance to witness Pink's extraordinary show firsthand. Vega described the experience as more than just a concert, stating that it encompassed elements of Broadway, rock, Cirque du Soleil, and acrobatics. Pink's exceptional singing combined with her mesmerizing spectacle created a truly unforgettable experience.
One of the highlights of Pink's high-energy show is when she hangs high above the stage, spinning and intertwining herself in silk ropes, all while singing. What makes this even more astonishing is that there are no safety nets in place. Vega revealed that Pink's background in childhood gymnastics is evident in her performances, showcasing her incredible strength and agility.
To understand how Pink prepares for her awe-inspiring aerial performance, 60 Minutes traveled to her California home. There, they witnessed Pink training with her aerialist coach Dreya Weber and aerialist partner Khasan Brailsford. They practiced on a large metal structure with ropes, rehearsing the moves from her show. Pink credits coach Weber for instilling in her the importance of respecting her craft and always giving her best.
One interesting change in Pink's pre-show routine is that she no longer drinks alcohol before hitting the stage. She shared that coach Weber emphasized the need to always be fully present and focused on her performance. This change has allowed Pink to fully immerse herself in her art and deliver exceptional shows night after night.
After her concert in Philadelphia, Pink invited the 60 Minutes team backstage to witness one of her post-show rituals: taking a cold plunge in frigid water. Despite the discomfort, Pink explained that the ice-cold bath helps her recover and prevent post-performance soreness. Her 12-year-old daughter, Willow, even joined her in the plunge, surpassing her mom's record time. Willow then challenged Pink's husband, motocross star Carey Hart, to join them. Although known for his daredevil stunts, Hart couldn't endure the cold water for more than ten seconds.
In conclusion, Pink's talent and dedication to her craft are truly remarkable. Her performances are a unique blend of music, acrobatics, and showmanship that leave audiences in awe. Through her rigorous training and commitment to her art, Pink continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in live entertainment.
