Jets QB Aaron Rodgers, at the Breeders' Cup, tells NBC he still

Aaron Rodgers, the New York Jets quarterback, expresses hope to return to the field this season after tearing his Achilles tendon.

In an exclusive interview with NBC Sports, New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers expressed his determination to return to the field this season. Despite suffering a left Achilles tendon tear just four snaps into his debut with the Jets on September 11, Rodgers is actively rehabbing and feeling optimistic about his progress.

Rodgers emphasized that his recovery is a step-by-step process that requires daily dedication. He acknowledged that there are both good and rough days, but his ultimate goal is to make a comeback this year. He believes that undergoing extensive rehabilitation would be in vain if he doesn't return to the field. However, he remains cautious and acknowledges that he needs to meet specific milestones, such as regaining mobility and avoiding further harm, before he can confidently make his return.

There have been encouraging signs in Rodgers' recovery journey. Last weekend, he demonstrated progress by dropping back and putting weight on his injured left leg while throwing passes during warmups before the Jets' game against the New York Giants. The Jets went on to win that game 13-10 in overtime, extending their winning streak to three games and improving their season record to 4-3.

Meanwhile, Zach Wilson has taken over as the starting quarterback in Rodgers' absence. Wilson has been performing well, aiming to secure his fourth consecutive victory when the Jets face the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night. Rodgers expressed pride in Wilson and the team's performance, highlighting their 4-3 record and upcoming games, including one on NBC.

Aside from football, Rodgers is known for his passion for horse racing. He attended the Breeders' Cup at Santa Anita Park and revealed that his pick for the Breeders' Cup Classic was Ushba Tesoro, a Japanese horse wearing the number 8. Rodgers admitted that he regretted not betting on the number 8 horse, Mage, during the Kentucky Derby in May, as it won with odds of 15-1.

As Rodgers continues his rehabilitation and eagerly awaits his return to the field, his determination and dedication serve as an inspiration to his teammates and fans. The Jets organization, along with Rodgers himself, remains hopeful for his comeback this season.
