HARDY Previews Joe Diffie-Themed HIXTAPE with Covers Post Malone and Morgan Wallen

HARDY, Morgan Wallen, and Post Malone honor Joe Diffie with '90s country covers at CMA Awards and announce upcoming album.

During the 2023 CMA Awards, HARDY, Morgan Wallen, and Post Malone honored the late Joe Diffie with covers of two of his biggest hits. Now, the trio is sharing the inspiration behind their '90s country cover set.

Following the CMA Awards broadcast, HARDY revealed details about the upcoming third installment of his HIXTAPE collaborative album series. HIXTAPE VOL. 3: DIFFTAPE is set for release on March 29, 2024, and will pay tribute to tracks from Diffie's extensive musical catalog.

In partnership with Diffie's estate, the songs will blend the country star's original recordings with new recordings from a variety of modern hitmakers.

The statement from Joe Diffie's estate expresses excitement about the collaboration, stating, "The Diffie Estate is thrilled to partner with Big Loud and HARDY in preserving and revitalizing Joe Diffie's musical legacy. With their shared excitement and passion, this collaboration promises to carry on the incredible journey of a true legend."

HARDY shared his enthusiasm for DIFFTAPE, calling it a "one-of-a-kind project" and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to work with the original recordings and the blessing of Diffie's family.

Ahead of the full-length project's release, studio versions of the two songs performed by HARDY, Post Malone, and Wallen at the CMAs are now available to stream. "Pickup Man," featuring Post Malone, and "John Deere Green," with added vocals from HARDY and Wallen, can be streamed or purchased via iTunes. These releases coincide with the 30th anniversary of "John Deere Green," the iconic single from Diffie's 1993 album, Honky Tonk Attitude.

HARDY reflected on the impact of Joe Diffie, describing him as the epitome of the '90s country voice and emphasizing his talent for recording hit songs. He also shared a personal memory of Diffie, recalling the country star's kindness during their brief meeting early in HARDY's career.
