Jackson tells Sterling to celebrate in front of Man City fans after Chelsea goal
Raheem Sterling scored against former team Man City, but Erling Haaland's brace helped Man City win 3-2 against Chelsea.
Chelsea's Raheem Sterling showcased his return to form this season with a goal against his former team, Manchester City, on Sunday. The 28-year-old was in the right place at the right time to put the Blues ahead 2-1.
Erling Haaland had initially put City ahead from the penalty spot following a VAR check before Thiago Silva levelled the scoring. Mauricio Pochettino's men completed the turnaround when Sterling tapped home Reece James' cross after Josko Gvardiol's error. This marked Sterling's first goal against City since his £45million move to Chelsea.
After scoring, the 28-year-old ran to the corner flag with his arms aloft before stopping his celebration in front of the traveling City supporters. Sterling was congratulated by Nicolas Jackson, who seemed to encourage him to celebrate in front of his former fans.
Sterling spent seven years in Manchester, scoring 131 goals and assisting 95 in 339 games. He won four Premier League titles at the Etihad Stadium, also lifting five EFL Cups and the FA Cup.
Sky Sports' Jamie Carragher praised Sterling for his role in the goal, highlighting the significance of his contribution. Unfortunately for Chelsea and Sterling, City responded shortly before half-time through Manuel Akanji's header, and Haaland scored again, making it 3-2 just after the break.
