Chris Pratt Voices Garfield New Movie Trailer
Chris Pratt's casting as the voice of Garfield in the new CGI animated movie has sparked outrage, despite the film's impressive team.
When it was announced that Chris Pratt would be voicing Mario in The Super Mario Bros Movie, there was a lot of commotion. People were outraged, claiming that he wasn't Italian and probably not even a plumber. Now, there's a new cause for uproar: Chris Pratt is set to voice Garfield in the upcoming CGI animated movie, The Garfield Movie. The absurdity of it all is clear - Chris Pratt isn't even a cat!
In the past, Jim Davis' long-running comic strip inspired TV cartoons and two live-action/animated hybrid movies from the 2000s, with Bill Murray voicing Garfield. Now, a fully animated Garfield movie is in the works, directed by Mark Dindal and written by David Reynolds, both of whom worked on The Emperor's New Groove. This raises some eyebrows and piques interest, as The Emperor's New Groove is considered one of the funniest Disney animated movies.
However, the trailer for The Garfield Movie doesn't necessarily reflect the involvement of Dindal and Reynolds. Instead, it focuses on a cute baby Garfield and later an adult Garfield embarking on an adventure with his father, voiced by Samuel L. Jackson - who is also not a cat. While it may not have the same vibe as The Emperor's New Groove, the animation style does pay homage to the original Davis cartoons.
Despite initial reservations, there's hope that the movie will exceed expectations. The official synopsis promises a wild outdoor adventure for Garfield, as he is reunited with his long-lost father and gets involved in a high-stakes heist with his canine friend Odie. The Garfield Movie is set to hit theaters on May 24, 2024.
