India reaches the 2023 Cricket World Cup final thanks to Virat Kohli's record hundred and Mohammed Shami's seven-wicket haul.

India has secured their spot in the final of the 2023 Cricket World Cup with an outstanding performance from their batting unit and a phenomenal seven-wicket haul by seamer Mohammed Shami. The unbeaten hosts dominated New Zealand in a high-scoring match, with Virat Kohli's record 50th hundred and Shreyas Iyer's blistering 105 leading India to a total of 397 for four wickets.

New Zealand, who had previously defeated India in the 2019 tournament, put up a strong fight, with Daryl Mitchell scoring an excellent 134. However, Shami's exceptional performance on the field, which included dismissing both openers and captain Kane Williamson, ultimately secured India's victory.

India's success has propelled them into the World Cup final, where they will face the winner of the second semifinal between Australia and South Africa. With a flawless record of 10 wins in as many matches, India's impressive run in the 50-over showpiece has solidified their status as a top contender for the title.

Kohli's record-breaking century, which surpassed Sachin Tendulkar's previous record, was met with applause from the cricket legend himself, as well as former England soccer captain David Beckham. Meanwhile, Iyer's explosive 105, featuring four fours and eight sixes, provided the late fireworks for India's innings.

India's captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill also made significant contributions to the team's success, with a 71-run opening stand and an unbeaten 80 from Gill. Despite New Zealand's valiant effort, the target set by India proved to be insurmountable, ultimately resulting in another near-miss for the Black Caps, who narrowly lost the 2019 final to England.
