NFL World sends prayers for Joey Bosa after Chargers star tears up following leg injury
Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa suffers a serious injury during Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers, sparking fan concern.
Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa suffered a foot injury early in Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers. While attempting to make a tackle, he injured his foot and had to be helped off the field, unable to put any weight on it. Bosa was then taken off the field on a medical cart, visibly upset and even seen crying as he was driven into the locker room.
Fans took to social media to express their concern for Bosa, hoping that the injury was not too serious and that he would be able to return to the team soon. However, the severity of the injury was evident as Bosa had to be taken off the field on a cart, making it unlikely that he would return to the game.
Bosa had been a key player for the Chargers, with 6.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a pass deflected in the eight games he played before the Packers matchup. He had also been one of four Chargers defensive players with four sacks entering the game.
The former first-round draft pick out of Ohio State had a history of injuries, playing only five games in 2022 due to a groin injury and managing just two and a half sacks. Despite this, he was able to return for the Chargers' Wild Card game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Joey Bosa was drafted with the third overall selection in the 2016 NFL Draft and signed a lucrative five-year contract in 2020, making him one of the highest-paid defensive players in the NFL. Each season, he is set to earn between $17 and $21 million under his contract, with the possibility of an opt-out clause at the end of the season. This could mean that Bosa may play for another team in 2024.
