Eagles inactives: Lane Johnson out for Bills game
Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson is out for Sunday's game against the Bills with a groin injury, impacting the team's lineup.
Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson is unable to play in Sunday's game against the Bills due to a groin injury. The 33-year-old woke up with soreness and underwent treatment and an MRI prior to being officially ruled out. Although Johnson attempted to test out his injury on the field, he was unable to do so. However, the fact that he was able to try suggests that the injury may not be too severe. The Eagles will have to make do without Johnson, turning to backup Jack Driscoll, who has struggled in Johnson's place in the past. Without Johnson in the lineup, the Eagles have a record of 10-22 since the start of the 2016 season.
The team's list of inactives against the Bills includes Johnson, tight end Dallas Goedert, defensive tackle Milton Williams, tight end Grant Calcaterra, quarterback Tanner McKee, cornerback Josiah Scott, and running back Rashaad Penny. However, wide receiver Quez Watkins is set to make his return after missing the last five games due to a hamstring injury. He is one of six active receivers for the game.
Williams, who was playing well against the Chiefs before suffering a concussion, was unable to clear the NFL's concussion protocol in time for the game against the Bills. As a result, the Eagles will miss his contributions. Meanwhile, Goedert will miss his second consecutive game due to a fractured forearm, but the team is hopeful for his return within four games. Linebacker Ben VanSumeren and tight end Noah Togiai have been elevated from the practice squad for the game, with this being VanSumeren's third and final elevation and Togiai's first this season.
