Saints decisions Chris Olave Cameron Jordan Lions game
Saints' Olave and Jordan cleared to play against Lions despite injuries, Graham also active, several other players out for New Orleans.
The New Orleans Saints received some positive news ahead of their upcoming game against the Detroit Lions. Despite battling injuries, wide receiver Chris Olave and defensive end Cam Jordan will be active and ready to play. Olave was able to clear concussion protocol in time for the game, while Jordan was able to suit up after missing practice due to an ankle injury sustained last week.
Olave suffered a concussion in the previous game against the Atlanta Falcons but was able to return to practice on a limited basis and eventually participate in all three sessions. Coach Dennis Allen confirmed on Friday that Olave still needed to clear concussion protocol, which he successfully did in time for kickoff.
Jordan, on the other hand, missed all three practice sessions leading up to the game. Despite this, the Saints listed the 34-year-old as questionable for the matchup. Allen expressed the team's determination to give the eight-time Pro Bowler every opportunity to play.
Jordan underwent a pre-game workout, and it was successful enough for the Saints to include him in the active roster.
In addition to Olave and Jordan, tight end Jimmy Graham will also be active for the Saints after being inactive for the last four games.
Unfortunately, there are still several players who will be unable to play for New Orleans, including safety Marcus Maye (shoulder), linebacker Pete Werner (shoulder/oblique), wide receiver Rashid Shaheed (quad), running back Kendre Miller (ankle), cornerback Cam Dantzler, quarterback Jake Haener, and offensive lineman Nick Saldiveri. Despite these absences, the Saints are hopeful that the return of Olave, Jordan, and Graham will provide a much-needed boost to the team as they prepare to face the Lions.
