Kingsley Ben-Adir, who is set to play reggae legend Bob Marley in the upcoming biopic 'Bob Marley: One Love,' has received high praise from the musician's eldest son, Ziggy Marley.
In a recent promotional video released by Paramount Pictures, Ziggy expressed his approval of Ben-Adir's portrayal of his father on the big screen. He noted that during the audition process, Ben-Adir stood out as the actor who captured the essence of Bob Marley without simply trying to mimic him.
Ziggy Marley commended Ben-Adir for his authentic and artful portrayal of his father, emphasizing that the actor stayed true to who Bob Marley was as a person, how he spoke, acted, and perceived the world. He also acknowledged Ben-Adir for humanizing his father, showcasing not just Bob the legend or artist, but also the human and emotional side of the iconic musician.
The biopic, which is a first for Bob Marley's life and musical journey, is produced in collaboration with the Marley family and features Lashana Lynch as Marley's wife Rita. The cast also includes Jesse Cilio as Norval Marley, Sundra Oakley as Diane Jobson, and James Norton as Chris Blackwell. Additionally, actors Tosin Cole, Michael Gandolfini, Nadine Marshall, and Anthony Welsh will appear in undisclosed roles.
The highly anticipated film is scheduled for release in theaters on February 14, 2024, and will also be available on the Paramount Plus streaming service. Subscribers to Paramount Plus will have access to the biopic upon its release, as the film aligns with Paramount Pictures' ownership of the platform.
