Jamie Foxx details tough medical journey in emotional speech after health scare
Jamie Foxx shares emotional story of recent health scare, expresses gratitude for support, and vows to continue entertaining and living fully.
Jamie Foxx recently spoke at the Critics' Choice Association Awards Celebration of Cinema & Television Honoring Black, Latino & AAPI Achievements, where he emotionally shared his recent health scare that led to hospitalization.
Foxx revealed that he suffered a severe allergic reaction to a medication he was taking for a chronic condition, causing him to feel dizzy and nauseous, ultimately collapsing in his home. He expressed his gratitude to his family, friends, and fans for their support and prayers during his ordeal, as well as to the medical staff who saved his life.
The actor and comedian shared that he was unable to walk just six months ago and poked fun at rumors that he was cloned before expressing his newfound appreciation for life. He emphasized the importance of not taking anything for granted and the value of living more fully, passionately, and purposefully.
Despite his near-death experience, Foxx is determined to overcome his condition and continue pursuing his career. He is currently working on several projects, including a biopic, a musical comedy, and a Netflix thriller, and even hinted at a possible return to stand-up comedy.
Foxx concluded his speech by affirming his commitment to continue doing what he loves, stating, "I'm not going to let this stop me. I'm going to keep doing what I love, what I was born to do. I'm going to keep entertaining you, making you laugh, making you cry, making you think. I'm going to keep being Jamie Foxx."
