Currently a junior at Colorado State, Mya gained widespread attention after achieving a school record in the shot put. At just 21 years old, she took to social media to share her accomplishments, writing on Instagram, "A new PR and a new school record!! Happy with a strong start to my season."
This impressive performance not only marked a personal record but also earned Mya the title of the school's student-athlete of the week, achieving a record-breaking throw of 18.50 meters. Surpassing the previous record of 17.55m, Mya's mark of 18.50 meters propelled her to the number 1 position in Colorado State's top 20, as highlighted on the Rams' website. The website also noted that she presently holds the leading position in the nation for women's indoor shot put.
Following her triumphant first-place finish, Mya received the title of Women's Field Athlete of the Week.
