When asked about the role of competition, such as The Summer Game Fest, in the decision to end E3, Pierre-Louis stated that it was not a significant factor. Instead, he highlighted the increasing importance of companies creating their own showcases as a critical factor in the decision.

The ESA CEO also acknowledged that the challenges faced by ReedPop, the parent company of GamesIndustry.biz, played a role in the decision to end E3. Despite the closure of E3 being announced recently, the event had faced difficulties throughout the year, including cancellations in 2020 and 2022.

ReedPop was initially set to run E3 in 2023 after an online version in 2021, but the show was ultimately canceled in March 2023. In September, ReedPop and the ESA parted ways over E3, leading to the event's closure.
