UEFA Champions League: PSG qualify for knockouts, Barcelona stunned by Antwerp
PSG advances to Champions League knockout stage, Newcastle and AC Milan knocked out, Royal Antwerp stuns Barcelona with historic 3-2 win.
In a thrilling conclusion to Group F of the UEFA Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain secured a spot in the knockout stages with a 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund. Despite being tied on points with AC Milan, PSG's superior goal difference saw them take the second spot in the group, with Borussia Dortmund topping the group with 11 points.
The game remained goalless in the first half, with both teams creating numerous opportunities. However, German prodigy Karim Adeyemi broke the stalemate in the 51st minute, capitalizing on PSG's loss of possession to score for the hosts. PSG showed their resilience, equalizing just five minutes later through young talent Warren Zaire-Emery, who became the youngest ever French scorer in the Champions League at just 17 years and 280 days old.
In Group H, Royal Antwerp stunned fans with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Barcelona, despite standing last in the group standings. Teenager Arthur Vermeeren put Antwerp ahead, only for Barcelona to make a comeback through Ferran Torres. Vincent Janssen's second-half goal put Antwerp in the lead once again. A late strike from 17-year-old Marc Guiu saw Barcelona draw level, but a historic victory was secured for Antwerp by teenage substitute George Ilenikhena.
Barcelona, along with Porto, had already secured their positions in the last 16 before this game, while Newcastle United, despite a 2-1 win over AC Milan, had to settle for a Europa League berth.
