NAG Discusses Preparing Next Generation Leaders
The 2024 NAG Conference in Tampa Bay will feature a session on preparing the next generation of leaders for family-run c-stores.
The 2024 NAG Conference is set to take place in Tampa Bay, Florida from March 10-13, and it promises to be an event filled with valuable discussions and insights for the c-store industry.
One of the key sessions at the conference is titled "Preparing for the Next Generation of Leadership." This session will focus on how family-run c-store leaders are getting the next generation ready to take the reins of the family business.
Greg Ehrlich, the president of Beck Suppliers Inc., emphasized the importance of preparing the next generation for leadership success, especially in a world where each generation sees things differently. He stressed the need to start this process early to ensure a smooth transition when the time comes.
The session will feature prominent family-run c-store leaders such as Joe Sheetz, chairman of Sheetz, Inc., and Brent Mouton, president and CEO of Hit-n-Run Stores. They will share their experiences in implementing change during generational transitions and discuss the unique aspects of their family businesses.
The goal of the session is to provide attendees who run family-owned c-stores with valuable insights on how to start preparing the next generation of leaders and set them up for success in the family business.
Ehrlich advised not to delay the process and to establish an ownership development program that gives the next generation opportunities to learn different parts of the company. He also stressed the importance of succession planning for key positions to build a strong bench capable of developing into future company leaders.
"Preparing for the Next Generation of Leadership" will take place on March 12 from 9 a.m.-10 a.m. Interested attendees can register for the conference on the NAG website.
